Meet our PE Teachers!
Mr. Jonathan Popowich
Welcome to my PE page! Here you will find a little bit about me and information about my classes. Please check back regularly for updates!
I earned my BS in Kinesiology with a K-12 Physical Education endorsement from Michigan State University in 2006. Since then I have taught PE both in my home state of Michigan and also here in Chicago. This will be my 10th year teaching at Skinner North and 12th year overall. I also completed a MEd program in School Administration at Concordia University Chicago a few years ago. Besides teaching I am also the coordinator of our After- School All-Stars program. In my spare time I enjoy watching and playing sports, especially the Michigan State Spartans, and spending time exploring Chicago with my wife, who is also a CPS teacher, and daughters, Reese and Rosie.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

I earned my bachelors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Kinesiology with a focus in K-12 Physical Education in 2015. I also earned my Health Endorsement in 2017 from Northern Illinois University. I have been teaching at Skinner North since 2016, along with coaching the Cross Country and Track and Field teams for 5th-8th grade. Outside of school I enjoy being active by running in races or with my dog Eden, as well as watching the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks.
